Scarecrow Weekend in Llwyngwril, Fairbourne and Friog
Over the Spring bank holiday at the end of May, 2007 saw the first Welsh Scarecrow Weekend,in the villages. It was a fantastic weekend, and everyone who participated and who visited the villages, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. There was a 'feel good' atmosphere, which was wonderful to experience. We hope that this will increase every year, and that all group and organisations in the village, such as the Ysgol Llwyngwril, the Church, Celfyddydau Celynin, and any others, will use the event as an opportunity to fund-raise, taking advantage of the influx of visitors, generated by the attraction of the scarecrows

RULES for Competition
1 Scarecrows need to be sturdy enough to withstand the wind and rain.
2 Scarecrows must be displayed at the front of a property, between the hours of 8.30am, and 9pm. You may feel that you want to bring it inside overnight, to prevent anyone interfering with it.
The main events will go on, throughout the weekend 24th-26th May, but we request that scarecrows are displayed until the end of the following weekend (1st June), at least. They attract people to the villages, and we would like to get the maximum benefit from the efforts we all make in making them. Support local businesses, by doing this, as when people are here they will patronise our shops, pubs etc.
3. All scarecrows entered into the competition will have a specific label issued, which must be attached to the scarecrow, where it can be seen by judges. This is so that the judges know which scarecrows are entered into the competition. These will be issued by the Gallery. The final date for entries, will be Tuesday 20th May. Entries must be received throughletter box of Bod Idris, Llwyngwril, Gwynedd, Ll37 2JB.(end red-brick-terrace opposite Blue Chapel, by carpark, in Llwyngwril. by 9pm. Please include your entry fee.
Please include a Self addressed DL envelope with a first class stamp, for your entry label to be sent to you, by return (unless you live in the immediate vicinity of the Gallery, when it will be returned to you through your own letterbox.
